Launching Graybird Capital Fund I

Aerospace and Defense (A&D) Industry Overview

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, supply challenges have plagued the incredibly complex aerospace supply chain for years.  Several companies, such as Precision Castparts (PCC) and Howmet, have capitalized on this by acquiring and integrating material supply, parts finishing and coating capability into their manufacturing processes.  In general, this has been very good for these companies, providing leverage for lucrative, long-term, cross-product agreements with various aerospace OEM’s.

This duopoly, however, has not resolved the ongoing supply constraints that continue to plague the industry.

By acquiring, improving, and integrating specifically targeted companies, Graybird Capital intends to address this issue, providing finished components to aerospace OEM’s in a much shorter time and much more profitably than has historically been possible through independently owned and operated supply chain companies.

Acquisitions Overview

Starting with an acquisition at the Tier 4 level, Graybird Capital will build a solid foundation to supply its future acquisitions at the Tier 1, 2, & 3 level.

Our acquisition targets range from established 100+ year old companies to 25 year old companies

The target valuations are currently underperforming the market after sustaining difficulties during the Boeing 737 MAX grounding as well as COVID-19. With the return of global travel by 2025 the Aerospace and Defense industry is on track to recover to pre Boeing 737 MAX groundings.

The targets are horizontally integrated companies that are currently struggling with supply chain issues. By acquiring each tier of the Aerospace & Defense industry we will reduce overall COGS while delivering higher value to investors.

Regardless of debt load, inventories of $191mm+ leads us to believe that alone these companies are unable to move their products up the supply chain to necessary sources. Each company will complement the one below it on the supply chain to help move this unnecessary liability, or better yet use forecasting data to prevent shortages of specific products at each tier in the supply chain.
